Besides the children that live in there, the institute is inhabited by multiple Blackburns who fulfill different duties.
Clancy Blackburn
The oldest Blackburn alive, Clancy Blackburn is the owner and founder of the orphanage.
He is friendly but often preoccupied, not interacting with the children often. He is one of the first and most skilled bounder alive. Nowadays he concerns himself with his rabbit farm and teaching children the basics of bounding.

Mercy Blackburn
Mercy is the wife of Clancy Blackburn, a very energetic and optimistic woman, whose
personality doesn't make her seem one day over twenty. She handles all of the applications,
while at the same time acting as a nurse for any sick or injured children.

Jules Viktor Blackburn
Jules is the psychologist of the institute, a burly man whose physical aura
naturally uneases children. He is not very well received amongst Blackburn children, but perhaps no one in his profession would be.

Morganne (Southwell) Blackburn
A timid young woman, Morganne spends most of her time in the institute's kitchen,
where she prepares food for the children. She married into the family and was introduced
to bounding after much effort from her current husband and former childhood sweetheart, Jules.

Elizabeth Blackburn
Elizabeth is the younger cousin of Jules, the maid and caretaker of the family. She is a laid-back woman
and sometimes she is found hanging out with the older children. She likes zebras.
