A Bad Dream [open thread]

Scratch, scratch.

The pencil was worn down, yellow flakes revealing its bared wooden flesh for all to see; its end eraser was missing, either having been pulled off from swerving it side-to-side too much for its weak bonds to bear or perhaps it was chewed away like a rat gnawing at cheese, impressions of teeth littered across the green band. Its only saving grace was that it was sharp, very sharp. Sharp enough to gouge someone's eyes out, refined with the blades of a knife and a formidable weapon. Each stroke wore down the point, trails of little black pebbles lining and smudging salt white. Dainty little breath caressing away at the paper, letting black snow fall onto the sullen wood floors. White-jade colored eyes gazed in plastered masks of smiles, complacent and serene, innocent and undeterred. Childish skips bounced with confidence, yet not too dynamic nor too showy. Cat-like in regality. Mouse-quiet in reservation. A page rustle. Slim, wafer-thin notebooks of old, both with brittle yellowed pages and purified pages. Pocket-size, just enough to be convenient and accessible.

With one little doodle of a mirrored face, a 'V' for victory, away it went, back out of sight as the figure slid open the door as naturally as if one of its occupants were returning. No knocking on wood nor any of those other formalities, a ghost slipping by and by, silent steps towards the sitting boy on the bed, rubbing his eyes with a little shudder. The silver glow of an opened hallway lit the edges of virescent feather-like hair until they nearly became white, showing the straggles where they weren't brushed properly. Even paler, paler than the color of the overcast clouds and stars, were the fragile slender fingers of the diminutive figure tapping away at the gray-haired boy's shoulder.

"Ehhh~?" a soft voice of an angel mused, whose words sliced away with mischief and mayhem, "Crying 'cuz you wet your bed? Don't worry - I won't tell anyone!" An effeminate face of lambent jade irises, with pupils so light that they almost didn't show up, and delicate features. The porcelain doll of the orphanage. "Oops, but that's a lie."
